Mother's Day Plant

Hey Monkeys!
I hope you all got my little surprise in the mail. Just add some water until the soil pod pops up and then plant the seed. You can put it into a little cup or pot and cover it with some plastic wrap with a little hole in the top or you can leave it uncovered and give it a bit of water each day. Charlotte and I tried to make a little video to help you! Let me know how they grow!

Please don't forget to log into Hapara through the student portal and complete the assessments and reading logs that are on the right side of the page. I will be checking the reading logs daily and leaving little "stickers" for students. The Grade 3’s have been working with Sterling Park Retirement demonstrating the Gospel Value of Love. If your child (from any grade) would like to take the time to draw a picture or write a letter to one of the residents, I think it would really brighten their day. Your child can write or type a note of positive encouragement or tell a story about what they have been doing while they have been home. Share their work with me through Google, or take a photo or scan their letter and send it to me at Jennifer.alexander@ocsb.ca   I will print them off and deliver them to the residence. Good morning families! I hope you are all keeping well and managing during this unusual time. I am thinking of you all and keeping you in my prayers. If there is anything you need please reach out and let me know. Mme Marta and I have spoken with most families but do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions or concerns. I have updated the Hapara site with activities for students and I am including this "How To" video to help you access Hapara. There is a template for letters to seniors, the March journal, a math task and some fun activities. None of these tasks are mandatory, however the students all enjoy their journals so I encourage you to help them get those written.

Math Up! Here are some links (below) to the fraction activities we have been doing in class. To continue the learning at home, ask your child fun questions such as: "How much of your milk do you have left in your cup after you have had a few sips?" "We are going for a drive today, it will take 30 minutes to get there. How long will it take to drive one-third of the way? How long will we have been driving when we are half-way there? "Can you run a quarter of the way down the sidewalk?" "What fraction of the ________ can you eat?" (ex: pizza, cake, toast, apple...)
